What to teach staff about avoiding and recognizing malware infections.

- Don't install software from outside approved sources — even free tools and browser extensions can carry malware.
- Be cautious with email attachments, especially unexpected invoices, shipping notices, or documents that ask you to "enable macros" or "enable content."
- Keep devices updated — most malware exploits known vulnerabilities that a security patch would have already fixed.
- If a device suddenly runs slowly, shows unexpected pop-ups, or programs start crashing, report it rather than trying to fix it yourself — early reporting limits the damage.
- USB drives from unknown sources should never be plugged into a work device.
